Ingredients
- 2 cups plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2%)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice — freshly squeezed, plus more to taste
- 1 teaspoon olive oil — optional, for extra silkiness
- 2 tablespoons fresh dill — finely chopped (or 2 teaspoons dried)
- 2 tablespoons fresh chives — finely sliced (or 2 teaspoons dried)
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley — finely chopped (or 2 teaspoons dried)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 3/4 teaspoon fine sea salt — to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper — freshly ground, to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar — optional, balances tang
- 2-4 tablespoons milk or buttermilk — as needed to thin
- 1 teaspoon mayonnaise — optional, for nostalgic ranch richness
- 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard or a few drops Worcestershire — optional, for depth
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, add the Greek yogurt and lemon juice. Whisk to loosen and smooth the yogurt.
- Whisk in olive oil and mayonnaise, if using, until silky.
- Add dill, chives, and parsley. If using dried herbs, crumble them between your fingers as you sprinkle to help them bloom.
- Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and sugar (if using) until evenly speckled pale green.
- If the dip is too thick, add milk or buttermilk 1 tablespoon at a time until it softly mounds on a spoon.
- Taste and adjust salt, pepper, and lemon to balance tang and savoriness.
- Cover and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes (especially important if using dried herbs) to let flavors bloom.
- Stir the dip once more; it should look glossy and smooth with soft ribbons.
- For extra depth, stir in dry mustard or a few drops of Worcestershire, then taste again.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and serve with crudités, pita, roasted potatoes, wings, or grilled shrimp.
Notes
Storage: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 4 days; stir if any liquid separates. Not freezer-friendly. For meal prep, portion into small jars for grab-and-go snacks. If the dip thickens after chilling, loosen with a splash of milk or lemon before serving.
