Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2%)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juicefreshly squeezed, plus more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon olive oiloptional, for extra silkiness
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dillfinely chopped (or 2 teaspoons dried)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chivesfinely sliced (or 2 teaspoons dried)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsleyfinely chopped (or 2 teaspoons dried)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon fine sea saltto taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepperfreshly ground, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugaroptional, balances tang
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk or buttermilkas needed to thin
  • 1 teaspoon mayonnaiseoptional, for nostalgic ranch richness
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard or a few drops Worcestershireoptional, for depth

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, add the Greek yogurt and lemon juice. Whisk to loosen and smooth the yogurt.
  2. Whisk in olive oil and mayonnaise, if using, until silky.
  3. Add dill, chives, and parsley. If using dried herbs, crumble them between your fingers as you sprinkle to help them bloom.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and sugar (if using) until evenly speckled pale green.
  5. If the dip is too thick, add milk or buttermilk 1 tablespoon at a time until it softly mounds on a spoon.
  6. Taste and adjust salt, pepper, and lemon to balance tang and savoriness.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes (especially important if using dried herbs) to let flavors bloom.
  8. Stir the dip once more; it should look glossy and smooth with soft ribbons.
  9. For extra depth, stir in dry mustard or a few drops of Worcestershire, then taste again.
  10. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve with crudités, pita, roasted potatoes, wings, or grilled shrimp.

Notes

Storage: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 4 days; stir if any liquid separates. Not freezer-friendly. For meal prep, portion into small jars for grab-and-go snacks. If the dip thickens after chilling, loosen with a splash of milk or lemon before serving.
