Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milkor coconut milk or kefir
  • 1 small avocadoripe; about 1 cup flesh
  • 1/2 small bananaripe or a few chunks frozen green banana
  • 1 cup baby spinachlightly packed; or use a smaller amount of kale, stems removed
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juiceor lime; plus more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extractoptional
  • 1 pinch fine sea salt
  • 1–2 teaspoons monk fruit sweeteneror allulose/stevia blend, to taste; optional
  • 1 cup ice cubesreduce if using frozen banana/avocado
  • 1 scoop unflavored or vanilla protein powderor collagen peptides
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurtoptional; not dairy-free
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamonoptional warm note

Instructions

  1. Pour the unsweetened almond milk into the blender jar, then add the lemon juice and vanilla extract if using.
  2. Scoop in the avocado, add the baby spinach, and drop in the banana pieces.
  3. If using protein powder or collagen, sprinkle it over the greens. Add a pinch of salt and the sweetener to taste.
  4. Add the ice cubes on top to help create a thick, frosty texture.
  5. Secure the lid. Start blending on low to catch the greens, then increase to medium-high. Blend until smooth and glossy, about 30–45 seconds.
  6. Stop and taste. Add more lemon for brightness or a little more sweetener if needed. For a thicker, colder smoothie, add a few more ice cubes and blend briefly.
  7. Pour into a chilled glass for the best milkshake-like texture and serve immediately.
  8. For short-term storage, transfer to a jar, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface, seal, and refrigerate up to 24 hours. Shake well before drinking.
  9. For freezer packs, combine avocado chunks, banana pieces, and spinach in a freezer bag. Blend from frozen with milk, lemon, and extras when ready.

Notes

Store up to 24 hours in the fridge with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface to minimize browning; shake vigorously before drinking. For freezer prep, portion avocado, banana, and greens into bags; blend from frozen with milk, lemon, and add-ins. Not recommended to reheat.
