Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries — or use fresh and add ice
- 2 cups baby spinach — rinsed and well dried
- 1 medium banana — ripe; for creaminess and sweetness
- 1 cup milk of choice — almond, oat, dairy, or coconut water for lighter texture
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt — plain; or use 1/2 small avocado
- 1 scoop protein powder — vanilla or unflavored; optional
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup — optional, to taste; or stevia/monk fruit for low carb
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds — or hemp hearts or ground flaxseed
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice — optional, for brightness
- 1 pinch fine sea salt — tiny pinch to enhance flavor
- 4–6 cubes ice — only if using fresh strawberries or for extra froth
- 2 tablespoons fresh mint — chopped or leaves for topping
- 2 tablespoons sliced strawberries — for serving
Instructions
- Add the liquid to the blender first, followed by the spinach so it pulls into the blades.
- Add frozen strawberries, banana, and Greek yogurt (or avocado). Sprinkle in a tiny pinch of salt.
- Add protein powder, chia or other seeds, and sweetener only if needed. Add ice only if using fresh berries or you want it extra frosty.
- Start on low to break things up, then blend on high until the sound evens out and the smoothie looks glossy and thick.
- If too thick to move, add a splash more milk. If too thin or pale, add a few more strawberries and blend again.
- Taste and add lemon juice for a brighter note, or a touch more sweetener only if needed.
- Pour into chilled glasses for the creamiest texture.
- Top with fresh mint and strawberry slices if desired.
- Serve immediately, or refrigerate in a sealed jar for up to 24 hours. Shake well before drinking.
Notes
Best enjoyed fresh. For make-ahead, refrigerate up to 24 hours in a sealed jar and shake before drinking. For longer storage, freeze single portions; thaw in the fridge or at room temperature 20–30 minutes, then shake or reblend with a splash of milk. Keep ingredients cold for the creamiest texture.
